The Crowhurst Society – Call for New Trustees Help safeguard Quarry Wood for the future

The Crowhurst Society (Charity No. 1078229) is the local charity responsible for the care and stewardship of Quarry Wood, our much‑loved community woodland. The current trustees have served for many years and are now seeking to hand over responsibilities to new volunteers who can help guide the charity’s future.

🟩 Where is Quarry Wood?

Quarry Wood is located at the southern end of Crowhurst, on Sandrock Hill. It is a peaceful, natural space enjoyed by walkers, families, and wildlife enthusiasts, and forms an important part of the village’s landscape.

🟩 Why your help matters

The charity must have an active trustee body to continue operating. If no new trustees come forward, the future of Quarry Wood as a community‑managed space could be at risk, and the charity may be unable to continue its work.

🟩 What does a trustee do?

  • Support the management and wellbeing of Quarry Wood
  • Oversee the charity’s governance and responsibilities
  • Attend occasional meetings
  • Work with volunteers and community groups
  • Help plan for the long‑term future of the woodland

No specialist background is required — just an interest in Crowhurst, its environment, and its community.

🟩 Interested in getting involved?

The Crowhurst Society and Crowhurst Parish Council will be holding a meeting on Saturday, 21st November at 10.00am in the Village Hall where you can find out more about Quarry Wood and the Crowhurst Society.
